สวัสดีครับ

          ข้อที่ทุกคนยอมรับตรงกันก็คือ ภาษาอังกฤษสำคัญ ควรฝึกให้เก่ง แต่ข้อที่ทุกคนอาจจะเห็นไม่ค่อยตรงกันนักก็คือ จะฝึกยังไงให้เก่ง เน้นอะไรก่อน-หลัง, มาก-น้อย,หนัก-เบา

          สำหรับผมซึ่งเป็นคนไทยที่ไม่ได้เรียนเมืองนอก เห็นว่า การฝึกอ่านเป็นเรื่องที่สำคัญ ที่ควรฝึกไม่น้อยกว่าอย่างอื่น ไม่หลังอย่างอื่น และฝึกไม่เบากว่าอย่างอื่น ถ้าอ่านเก่ง อ่านเข้าใจ อ่านได้ไม่ช้า ก็จะช่วยฉุดให้การฟัง การพูด และการเขียน เก่งขึ้นด้วย

          แต่จะฝึกอ่านยังไงให้อ่านเก่ง คำแนะนำที่ผมมักให้บ่อย ๆ ก็คือ อ่านเรื่องที่ชอบ เรื่องที่ไม่ยาก-ไม่ยาวเกินไป เพื่อจะได้มีกำลังใจบ้างว่าอ่านรู้เรื่องและอ่านจบ เมื่อแรงอยู่ตัวก็ฝึกอ่านยาวขึ้น ยากขึ้น นานขึ้น  พูดอย่างนี้ก็คือให้ท่านไปหาเรื่องอ่านเอาเองที่เหมาะกับท่าน

          ในกรณีที่ท่านไม่มีเวลาไปหาเรื่องที่ว่านี้ให้เหมาะใจ  ผมขอแนะนำให้ท่านอ่านหนังสือพวก story ต่าง ๆ หนังสือพวกนี้สมัยที่ผมเป็นนักเรียนเขากำหนดให้เป็นหนังสืออ่านนอกเวลา แต่บ่อย ๆ ที่ครูก็เอามาสอนในชั้น

          หนังสือพวกนี้ ใช้ศัพท์และภาษาง่าย ๆ ตอนอ่านท่านอย่ากะเพียงให้อ่านรู้เรื่อง แต่ควรสังเกตการใช้ศัพท์และการผูกประโยคด้วย ถ้าท่านฝึกอ่านออกเสียงตามด้วยเป็นครั้งเป็นคราว หรือเมื่ออ่านจบหน้าหนึ่ง ตอนหนึ่ง บทหนึ่ง ลองหัดเล่าเรื่องที่อ่าน ด้วยการพูดเสียงดัง ๆ เล่าออกมา หรือเขียนลงสมุด จะ copy สำนวนจากเรื่องที่อ่าน หรือจะใช้สำนวนของตัวเองก็ได้ ครั้งแรกอาจจะฝืดและทุรกันดาร  แต่ถ้าฝึกบ่อย ๆ ไปเรื่อย ๆ ด้วยใจเย็น ก็จะทำได้ดีขึ้น เหมือนเดินทาง  ถ้าเดินไม่หยุดก็จะค่อย ๆ ถึงที่หมาย แม้อาจไม่เชื่อว่าตัวเองจะเดินถึง

          ไฟล์หนังสืออ่านนอกเวลาที่ผมรวบรวมมาไว้ข้างล่างนี้ ถ้าท่านชอบใจเล่มใดก็รีบดาวน์โหลดไว้เลยครับ เพราะในอนาคตมันอาจจะเป็นลิงค์ตายและดาวน์โหลดไม่ได้ ทั้งหมดเป็นของ Penguin Readers ซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงระดับโลกมานานแล้ว

Level 1 beginner ใช้คำศัพท์ 300 คำ

Level 2 Elementary ใช้คำศัพท์ 600 คำ

Level 3 Pre-intermediate  ใช้คำศัพท์ 1200 คำ

Level 4 Intermediate ใช้คำศัพท์ 1700 คำ

Level 5 Upper-Intermediate ใช้คำศัพท์ 2300 คำ

Level  6 Advanced ใช้คำศัพท์  3000 คำ
